So I was tinkering with the aspect ratio on the TV (I know, stupid of me, right?) and I messed something up. It was on 720p (I'm 1000% positive, I checked) before I started messing with it. But when I turn it back to 720p, the menu and guide screen lookes fine, but the actual TV picture does not turn to 720p. There are black bars on the sides of the show. Why do these not disappear when I turn it back to 720p?

If that wasn't clear enough here is a 1 minute long youtube video explaining it. (Also, I said 720 degrees in the video, I meant 720p. Haha)

Your Youtube link is dead, says user removed the Video. 

Here are some things to check.

1.) If you have 1080i/p change it to that instead it's the best resolution for HD.

2.) Check the TV resolution and the set top box resolution there is an option in the menu. 

3.) What type of cable are you using? 

4.) What channels in HD are viewing bare in mind that some commercials are purposefully not filmed or broadcasted in HD as well as some older movies, so ever no and then you will still get the bars. Make sure you check several HD channels.
