Ok, just got my Uverse installed.  We got a receiver downstairs and in the living room, we got a DVR & a receiver on 1 tv, which is what we had with Time Warner.  (Well, 2 DVRs in the living room and a regular receiver downstairs.)  But now, I set up 4 things to record to test em a few minutes ago and when they started, my son, who was watching tv downstairs, said it interrupted his show, saying that I would have to discontinue a recording or switch off a receiver or whatever.  So…  Are you limited to 4 things at once TOTAL?  I figured since they were different receivers, you could watch via 1 while recording on the DVR…  And the guy didn't say anything when I told him that I wanted to be able to still watch TV up here while I had 4 things recording at once in the evenings…

Am I missing something?

TIA!

Sorry Jenny, I have only noticed it once in the year I had service and my wife loads up the DVR. However, we don't have children so that might be a big difference.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Eventualy there will be an extra hd stream and extra sd stream. if your under 2200 ft then you can get the 32 mb profile, so 3hd and 5 sd. i think that how it goes.

I have had the ability to record 2 SD channels and watch a 5th stream on SD or watch 5 SD streams. The tech guys have no idea why I have had that capability for over a year now.  I know some will not believe me but I assure you I have 5 streams coming into my house. The kicker is I have some of the slowest internet speeds because of the distance I am from the main box. Also, I have all the old equipment from over 3 years ago. The only new equipment I have is the newer DVR with the 250 Gb hard drive and the newer gateway. But even before I got the new gateway I still had 5 steams into the house.

Edit I have the ability to record 2 HD channels and watch a 5th stream on SD or watch 5 SD streams
