I just got uverse last week. Here's some questions and issues I have:

1. I have an issue with some of the menus falling off the left side of the screen. I'm using the "Normal" (Not Zoom1, etc) picture mode at 1080p and have tried other combinations to no avail. I have a 32" Philips HDTV using CVI.

2. Any suggestions on HDMI vs. CVI? The tech actually steered me away from HDMI saying there tended to be "glitches" with the U-Verse boxes.

3. If I should use HDMI (to get closer to the picture I HAD with Time Warner – Their HD is MUCH more 3-D like), what would the audio to Surround sound hookups involve? HDMI from Box to TV, Optical Audio from Box to Surround is how I'm thinking it should work. Am I on the right track?

I Have the Motorola Box. Can I ask specifically for a Cisco Box? If I go with HDMI, will the Optical being plugged in override the HDMI audio, or how does that work.
