HD DVR problems I think???

Am I being handed a line here? Surprised I was told by AT&T tech support that you should NOT use a HDMI cable from the HD DVR box to the TV? Only use a Component cable and he also added that ALL the other Cable companies say the same thing.

What’s happening is the HDTV will lose sound for a second or two, or the picture and sound stops for a second or two, or the picture scrambles and you see those little squares and no sound for a couple seconds. This can happen as offen as every 10 to 30 seconds when thing are really bad. Yell

I can reset the HDDVR and it works decent for a while then starts acting up again. Or back at the AT&T tech support they send a single to straighten it out for a while. What could be wrong?

I am surprised that AT&T would tell someone not to use an HDMI cable. That's what the HD and digital is all about! Can I get 1080P with component cables? I have a lot of problems with the HD DVR recordings pixelating and broken sound at the first five to ten minutes of a recording and then it seems to go away. Doesn't ALWAYS do it, but does it a lot. TV broadcasts don't seem to have the problem. I can't figure out what is going on.
