I was playing with my dog tonight and a ball bounced into the TV box.  It didn't hit it very hard, but apparently it was hard enough to screw something up.  The screen froze, and when I tried to change the channels, the info bar at the bottom would update, but the screen would not change.

We tried resetting/rebooting the box, but all we get now is a bright orange screen that says “AT&T U-verse”

The TV upstairs is working fine, but it cannot access recorded shows.

Is there anything we can do to fix this?

I'm curious as to how much they're going to charge you to replace the DVR unit.

Please come back and post the results.

They probably will not charge (so long as they have no reason the damage was customer caused ;).

If it was the DVR unit (VIP 1216 or VIP 1225), which was struck, the hard drive inside the unit may have been damaged. If so, then the best solution is to have the DVR swapped.

You can try to unplug the unit, and hold the OK and DOWN buttons on the front of the BOX while plugging it back in.

It should be noted, this WILL erase all of your recordings.

Also, if you do not have a link like, then check to make sure none of the cables were knocked loose.

i don't think that this forum wants to promote lying to AT&T.

Very true,

I have no desire to encourage people to lie.

I bet if DSM told them what happened, there's still a good chance he will not be charged.

Those DVR's go bad if a mouse farts too close to emm!!!

Surprised
