My parents recently got hooked up with AT&T Uverse and one of the receivers is located in their basement, with their exercise equipment.  The TV it's hooked up to is a small 13 inch and they have trouble watching it.  I gave them a TV that I had that's a bit bigger 25 inch or so.

When I went to hook it up all i did was take the cable going to the back of the 13″ and put it in the back of the 25″.  I turned on the TV and all I got was snow.  The 13″ was on channel 3 and the TV/Video setting was set to TV.  I set the 25″ to the same settings and still got no picture.  I tried the RCA cables, instead of the coax cable, and still nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on and how/if I can get the larger TV to work.

I realize I may not have included all pertinent information to come to a conclusion on this so please feel free to ask any nescessary questions so I can clarify them for you.

Using the coaxial it should be on channel 3, however with the RCA cables it might need to be on the right video input. I advise getting the original remote the came with the 25 inch TV (NOT the U-verse remote). There should be a option on the remote that say input, video, or source, something to that effect. When you press that button it should give you your different input settings. Keep changing the input until you find the right one for the RCA cables.

Good luck and post back if that doesn't work.

Wow fast response.

I have tried all of that, to the best of my knowledge.  When I was using the coax I tried channel 3 & 4 as well as switching the TV (using the original remote) from TV to AV and back.  When it's on AV, regardless of RCA's or coax being used, all I get is a blue screen.

I have even done the box reset thing. (holding power button to reset the box)

It really preplexes me as to why one TV will work and when I set the other one (25″) to the same settings and plug it in all I get is snow.

Anymore ideas?  I'm willing to give anything a shot.

OK I don't know what I did but now miraculously it is working.

All I did is what I believe I did before.  RCA's from TV to back of uverse box and turn on uverse and TV.  I guess I had to post something here for it to work! LOL

Thanks for your help in the matter anyway.

LOL, sometimes electronics are just weird like that, I'm glad you got it working. Maybe you had a RCA cable backwards sometimes they can be hard to see the color of the inputs on the back of a TV.

I suppose that's possible. LOL

Thanks for the help but I have 1 more question that kind of goes along with this since they are using a different TV.

I cannot get the remote control to control the volume or turn the TV off.  I programmed the remote (using the 9,5,5 and 9,7,7 codes) and everything appeared to work, meaning I didn't time out but when I press volume the TV function lights up but nothing happens.  Same as turning the box and TV off.  I press power and the box turns of but not the TV.

Any ideas?  And I tried this several times so it shouldn't be the same as before where I ask then figure it out right after.

Sounds like you don't have the right remote code, I'm pretty sure the 955 is to deprogram the remote and 922 is for the automatic code search.

Using manual programming:

NOTE:  Turn on the device (TV, DVR, etc.) you want to program and point the remote control directly at the device.

  1. Locate the four-digit set-up code for your device.  You may need to visit the manufacturer's website or call the manufacturer to secure the four-digit code.
  2. Press and hold the appropriate Mode key (TV, DVD or AUX) on the remote control.
  3. Without releasing the selected Mode key, press and hold the OK key simultaneously.
  4. Release both the Mode key and the OK key at the same time. All the Mode keys should flash twice.
  5. Enter the four digit setup code by pressing the number keys (0-9) on the remote control.  The Mode key will flash three times indicating correct entry and return to normal operation.
  6. When an invalid code is entered, the selected Mode key will give a long flash to indicate that you have not entered the setup code correctly. If this happens, start the steps over.
  7. Point the remote control at the programmed device and press the Power key once. The device should turn off.  If it does not turn off, double-check your four-digit device code and start over.
  8. Repeat as needed to program multiple devices.

To use the remote control for the TV Receiver again, press the AT&T Mode key.

Look at this forum page for the codes.

Hey Hey!  You struck again.

Thanks for including the codes in your reply.  The first one worked!  WOO HOO!  The remote manual (page 16 and going on to 17) made it sound as though the 9,5,5 code was to control the volume on other devices.

You are like a God on here or something!

Thanks again and that should take care of all my questions, problems and issues.

Glad you got it working. I'm far from a God I assure you that, when the u-verse techs start posting on here I feel like a small fry. Laugh

Thanks for joining the community and reporting the success, I'm sure it will help future users with the same problems.

I'm having the same problem. I got a new TV and unhooked the coaxial cable from the TV and switched in a new TV. When I put the new TV on the same settings all I got was fuzz. I then put the old TV (worked before) back and that one now has only fuzz, again all the same setting (even the same TV!)

I don't have any RV cables lying around, I plan on buying some tomorrow, but it would be nice to figure out how to get this to work!

Make sure you TV is on the correct input, usually for coxial your TV should be on channel 3 or 4. Use the remote that came with your actual TV not the U-verse remote to make sure it's on the right channel. Also, you can toggle through your TV's inputs look for a button your TV remote that says input or source that should change through the different inputs your TV accepts.
