There was an update that pushed through the system Saturday night, Aug. 8 that failed.  It resulted in sporadic problems system wide the next day (aug. 9).  I went to a house where the voip was not functioning as a direct result of this.  Some of the back-end applications that the at&t people use also stopped working (BBT, SCANR).  Most people were unaffected.  Some people were only affected if they had to restart their equipment.  A few people were affected intrusively.
