I was wondering if anyone had any updates in regards to Uverse working on any kind of upgrade to allow you to pause live tv from non dvr receivers?  I had heard rumors this was going to be a possibility towards the end of 2008 but as we are now into 2009 and this is still not a capability I was wondering if anyone out there knew if this was still coming down the road at sometime?  I heard they were also working on being able to set up recordings from non dvr receivers.  Has anyone heard of this as coming in the near or distant future?

While I know what you are saying, the problem is Uverse only allows you to have one DVR so you don't even have the option to add other DVR receivers.  I came from Dish where you could pause and rewind live tv from every tv in the house.  In fact, on their DVR receivers, you could run two tv's off each DVR receiver.  Uverse is odd in the fact that they have some really cool features that other companies don't provide, then they have some negatives such as not being able to add additional DVR receiivers and only being able to pause live tv from that one DVR receiver.  Plus that one DVR receiver has a very limited HD included with it.  At dish the DVR receivers we had were able to record in excess of 300 plus hours of STD and over 80 hours of HD content where I think this uverse DVR we have is some where around 150 STD content and 40 hours of HD Content!  Either way, I hope they upgrade both amount of content you can record as well as being able to pause live tv.  It's nice to be able to step away, or take a phone call or go grab something to eat and to be able to either pause live tv or come back and rewind it to the point where you left off.

Personally I think U-verse needs to focus on bandwidth. Once they resolve those problems and can stay competetive for a long time they will easily be able to fix and upgrade their services. If they find the solution they will have a very competetive product to all other services out there.
