Hi all. Newbie here, both to the forum and to UVerse. Start training as one of the first 6 techs hired for UVerse rollout in the area (Western NC; Arden) on the 15th of the month.
Background = 35 years process and mfg. engineering in electronics mfg. , and mgmt of same. No a lot out there today I did not build at some time, from medical instrumentation and controls to missile guidance to pcs and video games (yes, standalone video games…..bally / midway)
3 years as lead satellite technician for Mastec – they are DirecTV's #1 sub (Home Service Provider).
Looking forward to getting to work with this technology, and pretty much know exactly what to expect regarding the physical labor and customer interface.
VERY tired of the nasty tech bashing that goes on at another forum. This place seems much friendlier towards the Prem Tech.
So here is my suggestion: I would like to see a section where Prem Techs can post tech tips for others. Perhaps we could use this section of the forum.
I maintained a "tech tips" notebook in my job with another firm as a lead tech, and MANY folks would ask to see it at our tech meetings, and study it. It contained "kosher" shortcuts, tough to diagnose problems and their solutions, new software revs and what they contained, hard to find remote codes, important and hard to find phone numbers for contacts, etc…..
This section could become a very good resource to get everyone to the same expertise level quickly. I am here to learn, and perfect my craft. I would be VERY happy to share any knowledge I may possess, and look forward to learning from all.
