The phase 2 update for dvr control from other stb's was supposed to drop sometime this month in Texas. Should give the ability to schedule and record programming from standard stb's, but NO trick play (pause, rewind, etc.. live t.v.) options. Can anyone verify its up and runing yet?

I just tried it and I got the same old message that “recordings can only be scheduled on the DVR receiver”.

Well, the big wheel turns slow…it wouldn't be the first time something was supposed to happen and it didn't. Of course I'm not sure of an exact date of when the update is supposed to drop. I'll ask at work tomorrow and try to find out.

No worries, thanks for the information. I know how business works and it seems like when they shouldn't push something they do it anyway and when they should they don't. All in good time my friend!
Thanks again for the scoop.

PT, any word on the update, it's been awhile since we heard anything from the forum. I figured everyone is scrambling because of mothers day.

Found out the update release was a trial and was only sent out to certain customers. I think it didn't go over too well. My supervisor said the update fried about 100 RG's. I guess they had a software issue, <offensive material removed by moderator(zapp05)>. Oh well, maybe they'll figure it out eventually. I'll keep you posted if i hear anything else about it.

No worries, I think things pick up in the spring because I have been busy as no other. Thanks for the update.
PT, I'm not sure what the offensive material was I think one of the other moderators commented it out. No worries, it happens to the best of us .

Think about it guys. There is a software push to the STB and your manager tells you that RG's got fried. Does not make sense.

I think “fried” might have just been used losely.

I used the term “fried” very loosely. I think the update caused a software conflict in the RG that kept the STB's from talking to each other. So you couldn't watch recorded programming on other STB's or something like that. Since they didn't have a patch to fix the update, they just replaced the RG's. This is my understanding from pure speculation and hearsay. I would like to say that I really haven't heard anything else definite (or seen anything in black and white on paper) about what happened with this update and its actual issues, other than they're still working on it. I hope this gives a little clarity to my previous babbling.
