We'll have four shows recording at a time and one of the recordings will be playing on one tv, but we still can't watch live tv on the other sets. What's up with that? I've even had two recordings playing at a time, and I still can't watch live tv on the other set.

this happened to me when I tried to record 4 things. I kept getting a message that "all hd" was in use. I realized that I recorded all 4 programs on the hd channels. when I went back and recorded in the regular, non hd channels, the problem went away

You only have 4 streams all together. So if you use them all up in the DVR you can't watch TV on the other set's because your using to much bandwidith on the one box. The beauty about the DVR is that you can record 4 shows but if you plan on doing that you can't watch TV on the other boxes. This is why most providers only let you record 2 shows because they don't want the DVR hogging the bandwidth, I guess with U-verse they just give you more control on how you want to use it.
