If your talking about the multi-room DVR watching a recorded show from a standard box then yes you can pause, FF, rewind, stop, or whatever. The only thing you can't do is pause, FF, rewind, and etc. for live from a non dvr box. However, since you can set the DVR from any Set top box you can always start recording a show live and then play it through the DVR recordings menu from your standard box, as it is recording this will give you all the functionality live from a non-dvr box.

You used to not be able to set the DVR settings like record from another non-dvr box, however there was an update which gives more functionality, so you shouldn't have any issues in this regards.
