Recently i got the att uverse installed with tv and internet. The insternet works great with direct connections to the router but over wireless basically the connection craps out constantly after a few minutes and I have to repair the connection in windows to proceed. When it works its awesome but right now i want to smash it. I am a certified A+ and Network+ tech and web developer. Anyone know whats up. I've tried changing channels for the wireless and diffent spots. I think I have a bogus radio on the router.
please im begging for help
I can definately suggest Three approaches. Fastest is: Netopia USB wireless adapter. The 2Wire USB adapters used by ATT are NOT the best, if you know what I mean.
Option two would be the potential that other networks near you are overlapping your rg's output channel. To find out, go to http://www.metageek.net/produc…..s/inssider , and download inssider (free shareware). Then run it! Be sure to select the proper wireless adapter prior to doing your scan. This software scans for all networks nearby, and will graphically show you if there is channel output overlap. (For example, if your RG is set to channel 2, and there are 5 other networks outputting in the Channel 1 – 5 range, you have overlap.) Then, access the rg (IP address is on the label on the side of the RG), and change the output channel of your RG. As a premtech, I use this all the time, and it has pulled my butt out of the water many times.
Route three is the Asoka powerline adapters that premtechs have on their trucks. Sends ethernet signal across your AC lines in the house. Just plug one in behind the RG, hardwire with ethernet cat 5 cable. Plug another in at location of remote pc, and hardwire with cat 5 ethernet. voila; like a hardwire connection, but comes across your ac lines.
Good luck!
