I have been using U-verse since December 2007. I use News Rover with a server that I pay for separately. Using these I am always able to download various media files and play them on Real Player, avi , mpg, picture files, and MP3 files. Newsgroups always had a ton of songs available to download since they are posted there by other users. However, recently ( this is now May 2008) I noticed that there are hardly any files available on the newsgroups for MP3. I have a few e-mails out there to both News Rover and to usenet-access.com to see what they say, but I suspect AT&T is censoring the MP3's.
Also, if you use their U-verse TV service and want to view adult video, they are all censored!!! All of it, and they charge you a fortune for the censored adult video, apparently to comply with the laws for Tennessee, the most ass-backward state in the nation. So boo-hiss, at some convenient point into the future, I will look elsewhere. Nice going AT&T, thought you had something good going there but you are becoming what Comcast used to be notorious for, not good! Wake up and stop trying to make America so vanilla.
